Every year we highlight important campaigns such as Earth Day and Great Big Green Week, as well as holding special educational events for local families during school holidays.
Community allotment
Our guest are invited to the 17 & Central community allotment to plant seeds in biodegradable pots which they could either take home or leave back on our colourful plant wall made of recycled pallets.
The Great British Spring Clean
Management team at 17 & Central actively participated in The Great British spring clean to contribute to the #keepbritain tidy initiative. Successfully fulfilling our commitment, we gathered the pledged 10 bags of litter while ensuring proper waste segregation for recycling through the centre's waste management system.
Plant a Flower Day
On Plant a Flower Day! we offered our shoppers free flower seeds to plant in their gardens! This initiative is a part of our commitment to sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices, as we strive to make a positive impact on our environment and community.
We offset our website’s emissions
Every year a website releases several kilograms of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. When a website is used, data is transferred to and processed in remote servers. The electricity consumed by these servers and by our computers accounts for 2% of the world’s air pollution, as much as the airline industry!
We use the Tree-Nation ‘Net Zero Website smart label’ – this automatically compensates for all the CO2 emissions generated by our website, by tracking the website usage and calculating its related emissions, then planting the trees needed to offset these emissions.
