PoTS Awareness Day

PoTS Awareness Day

17 & Central Supports PoTS UK for PoTS Awareness Day

As part of our ongoing commitment to community and health, 17 & Central is proud to show our support for PoTS UK on 25th October for PoTS Awareness Day. Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS) is a condition that affects heart rate and blood flow, leading to a range of challenging symptoms that can impact daily life.

Understanding PoTS

PoTS is often misunderstood and can be difficult to diagnose, but with greater awareness, we can help those affected receive the support they need. PoTS UK works tirelessly to provide information and resources for patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

What is PoTS?

Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS) is a condition that causes an abnormal increase in heart rate after sitting up or standing. It can lead to symptoms like dizziness, fainting, and rapid heartbeats, and affects daily activities and quality of life.

Who Can Get PoTS?

PoTS can affect anyone, but it is most commonly diagnosed in women aged 15 to 50. It's estimated that around 1 in 100 teenagers will develop PoTS before adulthood. Despite its prevalence, PoTS is often misdiagnosed or overlooked.

Spread Awareness and Support

This year, PoTS UK has released a brand new 4-minute video that provides a great insight into what PoTS actually is. We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to watch the video and learn more about this condition. You can view the video here: Watch Now.
